As previously reported on our Milwaukee personal injury website, John Spooner allegedly shot and killed Darius Simmons on May 31, 2012. As a result of the shooting, the Milwaukee County District Attorney has charged Mr. Spooner with first-degree intentional homicide. Attorneys for Mr. Spooner asked the court to move the case out of Milwaukee County due to all the pre-trial publicity. On Monday, January 14, 2013, the court denied this request and re-scheduled the trial of Mr. Spooner, now scheduled to begin on Monday, May 6, 2013. At the request of Mr. Spooner’s attorneys, the court also ordered Mr. Spooner to undergo an additional mental evaluation. Read more about the case on the Fox 6 website.
