The Zoo Interchange in Milwaukee is the busiest freeway interchange in the State of Wisconsin. For years, there has been a plan for rebuilding the interchange to repair some of the interchange's bridges and to improve traffic flow. Now, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation ("DOT") is proposing a two-year delay for the interchange project due to budget concerns. Under the DOT's proposal, the delay would cut the cost of the first two years of the interchange project by $200 million. Currently, a special committee is considering ways to increase Wisconsin's transportation funding with such measures as an increase in the state vehicle registration fee, a higher gas tax and new toll roads. For more information about the interchange project, please see the report of WISN-TV.
The Milwaukee vehicle accident attorneys of Samster, Konkel & Safran, S.C. hope that the Zoo Interchange project is completed as soon as possible. Safer bridges and better traffic flow at the interchange will likely reduce vehicle accidents.
