Two Milwaukee Police Officers To Receive Immunity In Derek Williams Inquest

As previously reported on this website here, seven members of the Milwaukee Police Department (“MPD”) refused to testify during the Inquest into the death of Derek Williams in MPD custody, invoking their Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. On Monday, February 18, 2013, Special Prosecutor John Franke announced that he would offer immunity to two of the MPD officers, hoping that the immunity would then compel the officers to testify. Also on Monday, MPD investigators testified at the Inquest, stating that two of the officers involved in the arrest of Mr. Williams omitted certain details during the investigation. Read more about the Inquest proceedings in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel here.

The civil rights lawyers of Samster, Konkel & Safran, S.C. represent the three young children of Derek Williams and their mother. Please check this website for continuing updates regarding the Inquest into the death of Mr. Williams.
