Compared to the same time period last year, fatalities on Wisconsin roads have increased significantly so far in 2012. In the first five months of 2011, 178 people died in Wisconsin traffic accidents. For the first five months of this year, 203 people have died, an increase of 14% over 2011. Wisconsin AAA spokesperson Pam Moen attributed the increase in traffic deaths to more people being on the road, due to the warm spring weather, falling gas prices and an improving economy.
