Inquest Into Death Of Derek Williams Begins With Jury Selection

As reported on this website here, Derek Williams died in Milwaukee Police Department custody in July 2011. The public Inquest into Mr. Williams’ death began on February 11, 2013. The Inquest began in the morning with jury selection. Nine total jurors were selected, seven women and two men. Three of the nine jurors will serve as alternates in case one of the six sitting jurors needs to be replaced. In the afternoon, Special Prosecutor John Franke made his opening statement and Assistant Medical Examiner Christopher Poulus, who performed the autopsy of Mr. Williams, began his testimony.
